Like the blind men and the elephant in the classic Indian fable, we construct our reality from our own unique experience. We each possess a few pieces of the global mosaic, but the big picture becomes discernable only when we share our perspectives and points of view.
The Global Commons is a virtual space designed to encourage and facilitate the exchange of ideas and opinions about our interconnected world. Visitors can discover resources, engage in discussion, and find tools to move from awareness to action.
The Commons is maintained by the Institute of World Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. It is a non-partisan, open marketplace for the exchange of ideas. If you see something you don't agree with, feel free to offer an alternative view. Within the bounds of civility and mutual respect, all opinions are welcome.
We hope you enjoy your visit and encourage you to come back often. There is always room for you on the Global Commons.
